A MESSAGE FROM MRS GIBRALTAR

I want to share something personal about why supporting the EV Foundation means so much to me.
When one of my children was born sick, I had to step away from the life I knew to be there for my child. It was a difficult chapter in my life, and during that time, the EV Foundation supported my family — but they also supported me throughout that difficult journey.
They gave me the tools, opportunities and encouragement I needed to work around my son’s needs. They didn’t just support me practically; they supported me emotionally too. They opened doors I genuinely thought were closed to me.
I left school with no qualifications. For a long time, I believed that certain opportunities would always be out of reach for me. But I was determined to change that.
With the support and encouragement of the EV Foundation, I was able to go to college in the evenings while working full time and raising my three children. It wasn’t easy.
But I did it!
Today, I am incredibly proud to say that I have GCSEs, and I’m still learning and growing every single day, and determined to pass more.
I now have a full-time job at Isolas, a job that I genuinely love. I’m learning something new every day, challenging myself and continuing to build a future for myself and my children.
At one point, I had lost myself in motherhood. I had lost my sense of purpose and, honestly, I didn’t think very highly of myself anymore.
I had also lost my brother to cancer, while my father was living with dementia, with very little support around me.
I had learned to live in survival mode.
But having someone believe in me made a difference.
The EV Foundation gave me opportunities, encouraged me, pushed me forward and helped me see something in myself that I had stopped seeing.
Look how far I have come. 💚
Education is something we shouldn't take for granted and very close to my heart.
That is why seeing my daughter go to university is something I am incredibly proud of. She will be the first in my family to graduate. She will break the cycle. It reminds me that our beginnings do not have to define our future.
My story is proof that sometimes all someone needs is a chance, someone to believe in them, and the opportunity to prove what they can do.
That is why this cause is so personal to me.
You can help provide a child with a drink and snack during their breaktime.
No child should feel different because their family is struggling.
I know what support can mean.
I know what it feels like to have someone believe in you.
And I know how far you can come when someone opens a door you thought was permanently closed.
The EV Foundation helped open many doors for me and I know for a fact how many they open to others.
I walked through it.
I worked hard.
I kept going.
And now I want to help give that same chance to someone else. 💚
